Arapey Grande River

The Río Arapey (also: Río Grande Arapey ) is a major river in the north- western Uruguay.

Description

The left tributary of the Uruguay River, in the Salto Grande dam it flows, rises in the hills of Cuchilla de Haedo and crosses on its 240 km long course of the Department of Salto. It is mostly surrounded by forest. The size of its catchment area is 11,410 km ². On its shores about 90 km north-west of Salto are the Baths of Arapey.

Its about 100 tributaries include the right-side tributary Río Chico Arapey and the opening out of the left rivers Arroyo Chico Mataojo and Arroyo del Tala.
