Araraquara is a large city in Brazil. It is located in the center of the state of São Paulo and is located about 270 km north- west of the capital of São Paulo. History

The city was founded on 22 August 1817. In the 19th century the whole area was heavily agricultural. On the characteristic of this period extensive agricultural sugar cane, corn, cotton, and from the mid-19th century, coffee was grown - today especially sugarcane.
