Arborea

Arborea is the name of a small town with 4034 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Oristano in Sardinia in Italy.

Borders the following municipalities: Marrubiu, Santa Giusta and Terralba.

History

The city was founded in 1928 laid out geometrically under the fascist regime of Mussolini with the name Mussolinia. After the war Mussolinia was renamed Arborea. At the point at which the site is located Arborea, was for centuries only mud, which was drained in 1919 in a Urbarmachungsprojekt. Large parts of the agricultural land thus obtained were handed over to settlers from Veneto. To date, this talk in the third and fourth generation partly a Venetian dialect in an otherwise Sardinian environment.

Economy

A substantial contribution to the economic development of Arborea has contributed to the milk processing cooperative 3A Assegnatari Associati Arborea, founded in 1956.
