Arbusigny

Arbusigny is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Arbusigny located at about 834 m above sea level. M., about 13 km southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The village is located on the west slope of the Foron ( left tributary of the Arve ), in the region of the plateau of Bornes, a high plateau between the Salève and the Bornes Alps.

The area of ​​12:25 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Bornes Plateau. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Arbusigny, on the La Grange at 964 m above sea level. M. is reached the highest point of the municipality. It is mainly composed of meadow land and has only a small proportion of forest. To the east of the municipality of soil in the valley of the Foron enough to the northwest to the headwaters of the Viaison. To the southwest the plateau descends gradually. Neighboring communities of Arbusigny are La Muraz and Reignier- Ésery in the north, Pers- Jussy and La Chapelle- Rambaud in the east, and Évires Menthonnex -en- Bornes in the south and Le Sappey in the West.

History

Arbusigny belonged in the Middle Ages to the chapter of Saint -Victor in Geneva.

Attractions

The village church dates back to a medieval gothic building that has been extensively restored in the 20th century. It has modern sculptures and stained glass windows.

Population

With 1028 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Arbusigny one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In the first half of the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1901 Arbusigny still counted 913 inhabitants). Since the early 1980s, thanks to the beautiful residential area and close to the Geneva agglomeration but again noted a significant increase in population.

Economy and infrastructure
