The Arc is a river in France, which runs in the Rhône-Alpes region in the department of Savoie. His main source Bach Arc Supérieur rises in the Vanoise massif, on the western flank of the summit Levanna Centrale ( 3619 m) , near the border with Italy. The source is below the Glacier area Glacier des Sources de l' Arc, in the Vanoise National Park and in the municipality of Bonneval- sur-Arc. The Arc dehydrated in an arc from southwest through west to north clockwise, through the countryside Maurienne and ends after 128 kilometers in the municipality of Chamousset as a left tributary of the Isère.

Hydrology
On 14 June 1957, the river destroyed during a storm numerous dams and bridges. Many people died there. In Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne an average flow of 900 m³ / s was measured. During another storm on 24 September 1993 was at the same place 400 to 500 m³ / s measured.
