Arcabas

Jean -Marie Pirot, better known as Arcabas ( born March 21, 1926 in Metz) is a French painter of Christian art.

Life

Jean -Marie Pirot studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux -Arts in Paris. Between 1950 and 1969 he was a professor at the École Supérieure des Beaux -Arts in Grenoble. After that, he was from 1969 to 1972 professor at the University of Ottawa, he was also the founder and director of « l'atelier collectif expérimental ". Back in France founded the Pirot " Éloge de la Main " at the University of Social Sciences in Grenoble.

His religious art in the church of Saint -Hugues -de -Chartreuse has been the subject of a donation to the Department of Isère in the context of cultural heritage.

Some works of Jean -Marie Pirot alias Arcabas can also be found in the Musée de Grenoble, in the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris, the Pinakothek Internationale de Waterloo, the University of Ottawa, Cuernavaca (Mexico) and in private collections. Since 1986 lives and works in Pirot Jean-Marie Saint -Pierre- de -Chartreuse (Isère).
