A copy of the genus Arcella in the microscope

The Arcellinida are a group housing bearing amoebae of Tubulinea.

Features

Arcellinida are amoeboid protozoa that are always provided with a shell ( testa). The shells lying outside the cell membrane and consist of organic or mineral materials that are either secreted or include external particles. The shell comprises a single main opening.

System

The first description of Arcellinida wrote in 1880 William Saville Kent. Ralf Meister field they classified 2002 as order and divided them into three sub-orders with sixteen families, Adl et al. However, in 2012 give a significantly more compact system at:

  • Arcellina Watch-glass ( Arcella )
  • Amphizonella
  • Microcorycia
  • Microchlamys
  • Spumochlamys
  • Nolan Della
  • Echinamoeba
  • Vermamoeba
  • Phryganella
  • Cryptodifflugia
  • Wailesella
  • Bullinularia
  • Heleopera

  • Nebela
  • Lesquereusia
  • Paraquadrula
  • Centropyxis
  • Bullinularia

  • Trigonopyxis
  • Distomatopyxis

Some genera are incertae sedis within the classification:

  • Geamphorella
  • Oopyxis
