Arcesius

Arkeisios (Greek Ἀρκείσιος, also Ἀρκέσιος ) is a figure in Greek mythology. He was the father of Laertes and paternal grandfather of Odysseus. His parents were after a mythical version of Zeus and Euryodeia. He married Chalkomedusa.

According to other data, he was a son of Cephalus and Procris from Thorikos. According to yet another representation he should have been a son of Killos or Celeus, a son of Cephalus. But Aristotle describes the following origin: As Cephalus the oracle of Delphi asked how he could come to children, he received for information: He should, marry the first female character that is going to meet him. Back home, he came upon a bear who, after he had impregnated her, was turned into a woman and gave birth Arkeisios.
