Arch Oboler

Arch Oboler ( born December 7, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois, † March 19, 1987 in Westlake Village, California ) was an American playwright, screenwriter, writer, film producer and director who worked for radio, film, theater and television.

Oboler grew up as the son of Jewish immigrants in Chicago. His parents, Leon and Clara Oboler, came from Riga. Arch Oboler briefly studied as a student at the University of Chicago before he began his career in the entertainment industry.

Oboler made ​​their name in a name as a writer of radio plays. Although he is now often associated with the horror genre in connection of all, he was widely praised in the 1930s and 1940s as one of the greatest talents of broadcasting. To date, he is considered one of the most important and innovative radio play writers.

As Oboler sold his first radio play, he was not yet 18 years old. Later he was for his work with the Lights Out horror series! known, for which he wrote a regular basis from 1936.
