Arch of Claudius (British victory)

The Claudius bow was an ancient triumphal arch in Rome. It spanned the Via Lata, today's Via del Corso, at the height of the Piazza Sciarra, just behind Via del Caravita.

The arch was built in 51 or 52 AD, 43 AD, erected in memory of the conquest of Britain by the Emperor Claudius. For this purpose, a arch of the aqueduct of the Aqua Virgo was monumentally expanded.

It was a einbogiges building, decorated with statues of members of the imperial family. A large fragment of the inscription is now in the court of the palace curator ( Capitoline Museum ). Other minor remnants are located in the Capitoline Museums and the Galleria Borghese.
