Archduke Wenceslaus of Austria

Archduke Wenceslaus of Austria ( born March 9, 1561 Wiener Neustadt, † September 22, 1578 in Madrid ) was a member of the Habsburg family and, since 1577, Grand Prior of the Order of Castile.

Archduke Wenzel was the eighth son of Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Maximilian II (1527-1576) and his wife and cousin ( first degree), Infanta Maria of Spain ( 1528-1603 ), eldest daughter of King and Emperor Charles V. and Infanta Isabella of Portugal.

Archduke Wenzel died on September 22, 1578 in Madrid and was in the Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, in the pantheon of Infante buried.
