Discovery

S/2002 J 1 was discovered on 31 October 2002 by astronomers at the University of Hawaii. The moon has received the official name Ark of the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) on 30 March 2005.

It was named after the moon 's Ark, one of the titanic muses.
