Archibald B. Darragh

Archibald Bard Darragh ( born December 23, 1840 in La Salle, Monroe County, Michigan, † February 21, 1927 in St. Louis, Michigan ) was an American politician. Between 1901 and 1909 he represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Archibald Darragh attended both public and private schools. Then he studied until 1859 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then worked as a teacher. During the Civil War he was a soldier in an infantry unit in the army of the Union. He brought it up to 1865 and to captain. In 1867 was Darragh School Board in Jackson. In 1870, he moved to St. Louis, where he was active in the banking industry. In 1872 he was treasurer in Gratiot County.

Politically, Darragh member of the Republican Party. In the years 1882 and 1883 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Michigan. In 1893 he was elected mayor of St. Louis. He also served on the board of the State Mental Hospital of Michigan. In the congressional elections of 1900, he was the eleventh electoral district of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William S. Mesick on March 4, 1901. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1909 four legislative sessions.

1908 renounced Archibald Darragh on another candidacy. Then he retired from politics. In the following years he worked again in the banking industry. He died on February 21, 1927 in St. Louis.
