The comics deal in each band with a theme of physics or mathematics, which is explained by Anselm Wüßtegern and his girlfriend Sophie. This involves, among other things, geometry, astrophysics, nuclear physics, computer science and electromagnetism. Two stories also deal with economics and anatomy.

Publication

From 1980 to 1989 published 14 volumes of the series at the French publisher Belin. 1990 was followed by four volumes under the title Les nouvelles aventures d' Anselme Lanturlu at Sisteron. In 2005, the story Le spondyloscope in Belle Santé Magazine was published.

Eight volumes of the series appeared in the 1980s in English, also exist translations into Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Persian, Finnish and Esperanto.
