Arctic front

Arktikfront (Greek Arktikos = north ) referred to in meteorology, a narrow, near-surface transition zone ( air mass boundary ) between the Arktikluft and the polar air. Such a front, however, only occurs in the winter months in about 65 ° to 75 ° north latitude.

The existence of such a front was first established in 1984 expedition to Spitsbergen in the Arctic Cyclone.
