Arcueil

Arcueil [ aʁ.kœj ] is a commune with 20,100 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) south of Paris and is part of the department of Val -de- Marne in the Île- de -France region. The distance to the center of Paris is about five and a half kilometers. The former village of Arcueil was already urbanized in the middle of the 19th century, so the city is now dominated by the coexistence of very different building types and architectural styles. Arcueil is traditionally a place of residence of workers. The community has a high proportion of immigrants on a high proportion of social housing and the population, in recent years, but there is a rising trend of gentrification.

Arcueil is the administrative seat of the municipal association Communauté d' agglomà Val de Bièvre.

Traffic

In Arcueil are two stations of the transport line RER B: Laplace and Arcueil -Cachan.

Attractions

Three aqueducts dominate the cityscape of Arcueil, two of which are still in operation: the Gallo- Roman aqueduct, the aqueduct Médicis from the 17th century and the aqueduct de la Vanne from the 19th century.
