Ardaric

Ardaric was a king of the East Germanic people of the Gepids in the 5th century AD

Ardaric was originally a subject of Attila the Hun; it seems one of his closest confidants and legally possessed great influence to have. However, after Attila's death in 453, there were riots after independence of the various emerging from the Huns East Germanic peoples ( including Gepids, Heruli, Skiren, Rugians and probably parts of the Ostrogoths ) between the Danube and the Carpathian arc. After the victory of a " Germanic " coalition under the leadership Ardarich in the Battle of the River Nedao in Pannonia ( 454) fell apart the loosely assembled Hun Empire, whose cohesion was due mainly to the personality of Attila. Ardaric took advantage of the collapse of the Hunnic domination of space cleverly and then founded the empire of the Gepids between the Danube, Tisza, Alt, and Carpathians, which lasted until the 6th century.
