Ardmore distillery

Ardmore is a whiskey distillery in Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. The distillery buildings are sorted in the Scottish lists of monuments in the B category.

History

The distillery on the outskirts of Kennethmont was founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher. In 1955 it was extended from two to four and 1974 from four to eight stills. In 1976, Allied Distillers Ltd. , A subsidiary of Allied Domecq, the company William Teacher & Sons and thus the distillery and closed the Malthouse. On 5 July 2005, the spirits group Pernod Ricard, Allied Domecq and thus the distillery took over. This had, however, to meet the requirements of the Cartel, separate from Ardmore, so now Beam Global Spirits & Wine, a subsidiary of Fortune Brands, the new owner of the distillery and of belonging to their coppersmiths is. Products

Apart from a few official distillery bottlings some of independent bottlers exist. Mainly produces Ardmore for blends. The main customer is Blend Teacher's.

The water of the members of the Region Highland distillery comes from sources at Knock Andy Hill. It has a mash tun ( mash do ) ( 12.5 t) of stainless steel and 14 wooden fermenting vats (wash backs) ( per 90,000 liters ) of Douglas fir wood. Is distilled into four wash stills ( 15,000 l each ) and four spirit stills ( 15,000 l each ) were heated by coal and April 2001, now steam will be used.
