Parks
Ardmore is surrounded by many lakes, including Lake Murray Lake Murray State Park with the Tucker Tower. The park was named after the American politician William H. Murray ( 1869-1956 ).
Economy and infrastructure
The largest employer in Ardmore is the tire manufacturer Michelin, which operates in Ardmore a factory to manufacture tires west of the city, where almost 1,900 people employed. Another major permanent establishment is the petroleum refinery of Valero Energy Corporation. In Ardmore is also the headquarters of the IMTEC Corporation is a manufacturer of dental implants.
Traffic
Ardmore has two local airfields, the Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport, southeast of the city, and the Ardmore Municipal Airport a former military airfield in the United States Army Air Forces northeast about 15 km outside of Ardmore. The nearest airport is Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and Dallas / Fort Worth, both located 140 km from Ardmore. A train service runs from Ardmore to Dallas via the Heartland Flyer and the Trinity Railway Express. Interstate 35 leads west past from Ardmore and leads north toward Oklahoma City and south to Dallas.
