Ardrishaig

Ardrishaig (Gaelic Rubha Aird Driseig ) is a village in the Scottish unitary authority Argyll and Bute. It is 48 km south of Oban and 77 km to the west of Glasgow, situated on the banks of Loch Gilp, a branch of Loch Fyne. In 2001, Ardrishaig recorded 1283 inhabitants.

Between 1831 and 1937, was Ardrishaig location of the nationally important whiskey distillery Glenfyne, also known as Glendarroch.

Traffic

The A83, which links the Kintyre peninsula on the national road network, crosses Ardrishaig. A connection to the rail network shall not, however, a regular bus service to Glasgow. Ardrishaig is eastern endpoint of the Crinan Canals at Loch Fyne and a pier for steamers was built in the 19th century. There were regular boat links among other things to Oban and Glasgow.
