History

Ardys was the successor of the first Mermnadae King Gyges. After this had come in the fight against the Cimmerians killed Ardys had to stabilize the Lydian dominion in western Asia Minor again. He succeeded in particular, to prevail against the Greek cities on the Aegean coast; so falls into his reign the capture of the city of Priene. He was succeeded by his son Sadyattes II.
