Aren Maeir

Aren M. Maeir (born 1958 in Rochester, NY) is an Israeli archaeologist.

Life

Maeir emigrated in 1969 with his family to Israel, where he served in the Army 1977-1982. He then studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem archeology and Jewish history.

He is an expert in Bronze Age and Iron Age in the Eastern Mediterranean and took part in several excavations there.

His main interest is in the excavation project Tell es - Safi south-east of Ashdod, where he directs excavations. He currently teaches at Bar- Ilan University.
