The Arena Corinthians is under construction for the FIFA World Cup 2014 football stadium in Itaquera, a municipality of the Brazilian metropolis of São Paulo. It has a capacity of around 68,000 spectators and the largest built in a stadium video screen. The largest ever canvas hangs in the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, the Dallas Cowboys homestead.

In the spring of 2013, the owners threatened with an immediate halt to construction, should not the funding be secured as soon as possible. The delay would make the timely completion impossible.

In November 2013, during the construction work on the roof of the stadium, an accident occurred. An inadequate fundamentierter construction crane crashed into the roof structure and tore down parts of it. Two people died in the incident. In March 2014, a worker died again on the construction of the arena, he fell from a great height while he mounted an additional grandstand.

The World Cup arena in São Paulo is the venue of the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2014 on 12 June 2014.
