Arena Po

Arena Po is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1613 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Pavia in Lombardy. The community is located about 19.5 kilometers southeast of Pavia in the Po at Pavese and directly borders the province of Piacenza (Emilia -Romagna). The northern border is formed by the Po, in the Baldonezza flows, corresponding to the eastern boundary of the municipality.

History

In a document of the 10th century from the monastery of St. Peter in Pavia the town is first mentioned. From then also an important ford is attested by the Po.

Traffic

The train station of Arena Po lies on the railway line Alessandria - Piacenza. Through the community, the Autostrada A21 lead (without connection ) and the former Strada Statale 10 Padana Inferiore (now a provincial road ) from Turin to Monselice.
