Areop-Enap

Areop - Enap ( Nauruan for "Old Spider"; Areob also Engab or Areow enab ) is a mythical figure from the creation story of the Nauruan religion. According to legend, Areop - Enap to have been a big spider.

At the beginning there were only Areop - Enap and the endless ocean, both of which were floating in infinite space. One day Areop - Enap found a large, round object, a mussel, and took it into his hands. He looked at her from all sides, because he wanted to know if there was an opening, so that he could crawl; but there was none. Then he knocked on the great shell, and since they sounded hollow, he came to the conclusion that there was nothing inside. He tried in vain to open the clam and finally, after he cast a spell and tried it one more time, he was successful, and kept the two sides apart slightly strong mussel.

He crawled into it, but could not see anything because neither sun nor moon were created in the dark; besides, he could not stand upright, because the space in the shell was too small. Areop - Enap searched everywhere if he thought something, and finally he discovered a snail. These he took under his arm, and slept for three days to give the auger motor. Then he put them aside and looked on, whereupon he found another, larger snail, which he treated as the first.

Then he took the first, smaller screw again and asked her if she could lift something the roof so that they could sit. The snail replied yes and lifted the roof easily. Then took Areop - Enap them, put them in the western half of the shell and molded it to the moon. Now there was some light and Areop - Enap discovered a large worm called Rigi. Areop - Enap asked Rigi, whether he could raise the roof even further. Rigi said yes, and had to work very hard so that he could lift the top shell side slowly. Lots of salty sweat flowed from his body; this welding was the sea. Finally Rigi was the upper shell side lift very high, and so this was the sky. But Rigi, totally worn out, fell over and died. From the first major screw - shaped Areop Enap the sun and put them in the eastern half of the shell. The lower shell side was finally to Earth.

From stones Areop - Enap finally created the man, so that he could support the sky on. Then traveled Areop - Enap in the newly created world. There he discovered other creatures, but he did not know what to call it. So he created out of the dirt, which came to him during the search in the shell under the nails, a winged creature. This flying creature harassed people such that they shouted to kill the creature. As Areop - Enap the people heard this, he knew from then on, as the essence is called.
