Argentière

Argentière is a French mountaineer and ski village in the Haute- Savoie in the French Alps in the Rhône -Alpes. It lies at an altitude of about 1,200 meters, 10 kilometers north of Chamonix at the foot of the Aiguille Verte ( 4,122 meters ) and belongs politically to the municipality of Chamonix -Mont- Blanc.

Argentière is commonly known by its versatile ski to the glaciated Grands Montets, Argentière glacier also, ( 3,295 meters), the two sections a aerial tramway (Central Station Lognan 1973 meters) leads. There are also a number of other lifts ( gondola, several chair lifts ). The ski area of the Grands Montets is especially popular for its long and challenging runs and the numerous, sometimes very difficult off- piste variants (the most famous of the Pas de Chevre ) for ambitious skiers, freeriders and snowboarders. Early May each year to end season instead of a freeride festival.
