Argir

Argir (Danish Argentina ) is a place of the Faroe Islands and today the southern district of Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands on the largest island Streymoy.

Argir was once a village south of Tórshavn and was incorporated in 1997. The increased construction activity Argir now extends far into the slopes. From here you have a beautiful view of the capital and the sea with the barrier island Nólsoy. Argir also has an idyllic small harbor.

Originally Argir was founded in the 16th century as a leper. After the leprosy could be overcome in 1750, here was a poorhouse.

The football club of Argir is Argja Bóltfelag (AB).
