Argiris Pedoulakis

Argiris Pedoulakis (Greek Αργύρης Πεδουλάκηςς, born May 26, 1964 in Athens, Greece ) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach.

Playing career

His career began Pedoulakis 1977 GS Peristeri. In 1983, he managed the club to promotion to the first division. In 1986 he moved to Panathinaikos, where he stood for four seasons under contract before he again returned to Peristeri in 1993 and two years later in 1995 his active career ended as a player.

His debut with the Greek national team was Pedoulakis on 6 May 1986 a friendly match against Czechoslovakia. In the 113-93 victory, he scored 7 points. With Greece Pedoulakis participated in the Basketball World Championship in 1986 in Spain. His last of a total of 17 international matches he gave on 20 May 1987 as he could reach the second place in the Acropolis tournament with Greece.

Coaching career

His career as a coach began Pedoulakis 1995 immediately after his playing career for his club Peristeri, where he held the position of assistant coach at the side of the Serbs Dragan Sakota. In 1997, he finally took over the position of head coach and remained for four seasons until 1997 at Peristeri Athens. During this period he reached twice the third place in the A1 Ethniki (2001 and 2003) and took Peristeri 2000 and 2001 at the newly founded ULEB Euro League. In 2004 he reached the Final Four with Peristeri tournament for the Greek club trophy and there occupied the third place. In the summer of the same year Pedoulakis took over as coach at Makedonikos. With Makedonikos he participated in the ULEB Eurocup and led the team to the finals of the competition where the club was beaten almost to a 74-78 defeat Lietuvos Rytas from Lithuania. In the following years Pedoulakis took over for a number of clubs as coach before he returned again in 2010 to Peristeri. In 2012 he moved to Panathinaikos where he became the successor of Željko Obradovic. With Panathinaikos won Pedoulakis next to the Greek Championship two times the club cup before his contract was terminated in March 2014.
