Argja Bóltfelag

AB Argir, full name Argja Bóltfelag ( " football club from Argir " ) abbreviated AB, is one of six football clubs in the Faroese capital Tórshavn and plays in the Effodeildin.

History

Argja Bóltfelag was founded on 15 August 1973. Founding father was the Dane Johnny Nyby along with other sports fans in Argir, the southern district of Tórshavn. Argir belonged at that time to the contiguous settlement area of Tórshavn. AB was seen as the third club after HB Tórshavn Tórshavn (1904) and B36 Tórshavn (1936). However Argir was incorporated in 1997, so Fram Tórshavn (1975 ) can count as a senior capital club.

In the spring of 1974, AB elected its first board of directors. Its first president was Johnny Nyby, Vice President Fróði Olsen, Treasurer Sonja á Argjaboða and Secretary Kristian Argentina. Assessors were: Erling Olsen, Sæmundur Mortenen and Jens Hansen.

In the same year the club participated in the regular Faroese football games.

At first there was only a narrow schoolyard as a training place. Later, there was next to the school a 20 × 40 -foot space. A separate stadium there was therefore not at all, but AB could rent with permission of the clubs HB Tórshavn B36 Tórshavn Tórshavn and the community 's place in Gundadalur for training and for the league games. In this way, participation in the regular sports operation was possible for AB.

1983 a real soccer field was built in Argir what the conditions for AB improved significantly. In 1985, the club house added in the basement of the former school building.

Since 1998, the Argir stadium has artificial turf and thus the same conditions as the other clubs in the Faroe Islands.

In the 2006 season Argir was in the Formuladeildin (now Effodeildin ), the highest league, ascend, but increased as Penultimate immediately from the first time. 2008, the club reached the 1st Deild second place in 2009 and thus again played in the top division, in this time of relegation could be secured with a sixth place. A season later, AB Argir had to go take the course in the second division. 2011 seemed the rise already to be safe than standing before the last match against the same team point of TB Tvøroyri a better goal difference by six goals to book, by a 11-0 victory against TB EB / Streymur II in a 6:1 victory of AB against FC Hoyvík was this advantage, however, still playful and the Rise missed by the gates less achieved. The ultimate goal for TB fell from the penalty spot in the sixth minute of injury time. Finally succeeded in 2012, the rise in second place.
