Arguvan is a city and capital of the eponymous district in the Turkish province of Malatya. The county Arguvan located in the north of the province and borders the provinces of Elazig and Sivas. In the city Arguvan 2099 people throughout the county and 8711 people ( as of 2008).
The population Arguvans consists of Turks and Kurds, Alevis and Sunnis.
Arguvan is originally Greek toponym, which was evidenced in writing for the first time in the 9th century. At the time of the Ottoman Empire, the area of " Tahir " was called. Arguvan is one of the few examples of an renaming back to the original name. The reserve was renamed in 1957.
