Argyrotype

The photographic method of Argyrotypie is a further development took place in 1991 by Mike goods, the calotype, the oldest negative-positive process. In contrast to the calotype no paper negative, but a large format sheet film negative or a photographic plate is taken as a template.

The term " calotype " answered the Englishman William Henry Fox Talbot to the process in 1841 for a patent. Therefore, it is also called talbotype ( the historical method, see there). The Calotype was the first method by which an image could be reproduced repeatedly. The other method available at that time, the daguerreotype, only permitted the production of unique pieces without negative.

From these bases, the still applied Darkroom procedures Argyrotypie developed. In stores, there are complete kits from a ready-made solution and special paper to buy. The photographer can make this paper brush with the solution and allow to placed in contact frame to expose the negative in the sun, to water and to fix. The brownish photos can be concluded tinted.
