Ari Ahonen

Ari Pekka Ahonen ( born February 6, 1981 in Jyväskylä ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since June 2013 at the Barys Astana in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Ari Ahonen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of JYP Jyväskylä, in which he was active until 1999. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 in the first round than a total of 27 players from the New Jersey Devils. First, however, the goalkeeper moved within his native Finland to HIFK Kelsinki for whose first team he was two years in the SM- liiga between the posts. In the summer of 2001 he was ordered by his Draft Team New Jersey Devils to North America, played in the next five years, but only for their farm team in Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The 2006/07 season he joined the Espoo Blues in the SM- liiga, but moved after only five games within the league to Jokerit Helsinki. For the season 2007/ 08 Ahonen has been committed by the Frölunda HC of the Swedish Elitserien.
