Arialdo

Arialdus or Arialdo Alicatus (* 1000 in Como, Italy today, † June 27, 1066 at Lago Maggiore) is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church during his lifetime deacon in the region around Milan.

Life

Arialdus was a well- educated deacon who sought in his ministry particularly to moral and moral renewal. In the middle of the 11th century he founded with like-minded folk movement Pataria that had set itself a reform of godliness among the population as a goal. Arialdus was murdered by opponents of renewal efforts on June 27, 1066. The ritual worship of Arialdus was approved on July 13, 1904 by Pope Pius X.. His feast day is June 27.

Representation

Arialdus is clothed with the dalmatic of the deacon shown. As attributes of martyrdom one shows him with a sword and palm, pointing to its high level of education, he is also depicted with a book.
