Styles and methods

The Théâtre du Soleil sees itself as constantly learning organism and relates the influences and ideas of his production practice from all countries and epochs. To them is about the European tradition of folk theater such as the commedia dell'arte very important. The form-fitting practice for their theater is based on the methods and techniques of Jacques Lecoq. Today, the means of pantomime, cabaret, acrobatics and improvisation equally dominate. In their performances them active involvement of the audience is also a big concern. Thus, they also want the public learning processes and trigger the desire for change. The Théâtre du Soleil has with these and other features on a major intellectual and methodological affinity with the dance company of Pina Bausch. These similarities also picks up on the documentary snapshot (1983 ) by Clemens Kuby.
