Aride Island

Aride ( Aride Iceland English, French Ile Aride, dt " dry island " ) is the most northerly island of the Seychelles granite and is 10 km north of Praslin. The island has an area of ​​68 hectares (0.68 km ²) and is a nature reserve. Aride is managed by the Iceland Conservation Society of Seychelles. The island belongs to the district of Grande Anse on Praslin. The only inhabitants are six employees of the reserve who live in small houses in the south of the island.

More than 1.25 million seabirds breed regularly on Aride, for example, the world's largest colony of Schlankschnabelnoddi, the largest Seychellois population of roseate tern, and the world's largest population of Audubonsturmtauchers. Also frigate birds come in large quantities, but do not breed. The Seychelles warbler was introduced in 1988 by cousin, and its population is now the largest in the world, with over 2000 pairs.
