Ariella Kaeslin

Ariella Kaeslin ( born October 11, 1987 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss former gymnast.

Kaeslin grew up in Meggen and was included in the national squad in 2001. She started for the BTV Luzern and coached at the Sports School in Magglingen headed by Zoltan Yordanov. She was part of the Swiss sports development program and a student at the high school Alpine Road.

Sporting career

Kaeslin is multiple Swiss champion in the individual all-around, team competition and in the individual disciplines. In addition, she participated in four European Championships and three World Championships since 2002. In 2007, she won the all-around at the Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival in Frauenfeld. At the Summer Olympics in Beijing she finished fifth in the jump and rank 18 in the all-around final.

At the European Championships 2009 in Milan Kaeslin won bronze in the all around the first Swiss gymnast a medal at an international competition. The next day she brought in the apparatus finals the gold medal on vault horse and became the first Swiss Gymnastics European Championships. At the 2009 World Championships in London after she won eighth place in the all around silver at vaulting horse and was the first Swiss medal winner at the World Cup. At the European Championships 2011 in Berlin, she won again a bronze medal at the vaulting horse, her best discipline. Rather surprisingly, she reached the final on beam and 5th place. In multiplayer battle she was ranked eighth

On 11 July 2011 at the age of 23, one year before the Olympic Games in London, she announced her retirement from professional racing. Among the reasons they cited the great troubles and hardships that bring the sport itself.

Kaeslin 2012 is a member of the Rowing Club Lake Club Luzern since March. In the Swiss Championships on the Rotsee they occupied on July 7, 2013 Double Sculls at the side of Claudia Sutter sixth.
