Arif Lohar

Arif Lohar (* 1966) ( Punjabi عارف لوہار ) is a Pakistani folk singer. He usually sings with percussion instruments, which are known as Chimta. He is the son of folk singer Allam Lohar.

Lohar was in a small village called Aach Goch in Gujrat District, Punjab, Pakistan born and began singing folk music in order to keep the tradition of his father alive.

In 2005 Lohar was awarded the Pride of Performance Award, the highest civilian award of Pakistan. Today he has released more than 150 albums and has thus sung about 3000 songs that were sung mostly in Punjabi. His biggest hit, '21st Century Jugni ' Lohar sang in 2006 and thereby made national headlines.

In the past 20 years Lohar has completed more than 50 international tours, including in countries like the UK, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
