Aristides of Thebes

Aristides (active in the second half of the 4th century BC in Thebes) was a Greek painter of Thebes II. He was probably a grandson or great-grandson of the painter Aristides of Thebes, I, he was a pupil of his father, Nicomachus. He was a contemporary of Apelles and was considered a master in the depiction of human feelings and passions. He was a skilled painter and was highly valued. Especially famous is a scene from a battle scene showing the conquest of a city. In this scene you saw a child who zukriecht on the breast of his dying mother. Another battle scenes should have included 100 figures. He also painted many portraits, of which especially has been praised a tragic actor.
