Aristophanes (vase painter)
Aristophanes ( Ἀριστοφάνης ancient Greek ) was a Greek vase painter of the Attic red-figure style, so-called, who worked BC in Athens 430-400. From him three signed works are known, two of getöpferte Erginus shells in Berlin ( Collection of Classical Antiquities ) and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the fragment of a bell crater in Agrigento (Museo Archeologico Regionale). Based on these works, a number of other works are attributed to them today.
Aristophanes was anxious to leave his body appear more vivid color. They are distinguished by a carefully separate, sometimes a little contrived lines, which are particularly visible in the garments and the hair of his characters.
