Arithmetic underflow
Under an arithmetic underflow or short underflow is understood in computer technology, a condition that occurs when the result of a calculation is too small to be represented can.
For calculations with floating-point underflow occurs when the size of the intermediate result ( before rounding ) between 0 and the smallest floating-point number in the given format is. The treatment of the lower reaches is governed by the IEEE 754 standard.
