Career

In the club

Ariza Makukula began with 18 years of his professional career as a reservist in Vitória Guimarães. Without having a single game denied he even moved during the winter break to Spain for second division side UD Salamanca. There, too, he could not assert himself and changed only after half a year for CD Leganés. In Leganés then he got his use of opportunities and was a regular player. Thereupon his former club UD Salamanca became aware of his potential and signed him again.

In the year he scored 21 goals before he left the club for a transfer fee of € 5.5 million, to Nantes, where he scored only one goal. He was then awarded for one season back to Spain to support the relegation-threatened club Real Valladolid and play matches. After a good season then the Sevilla FC became aware of the Portuguese and signed him for a transfer fee of € 3.5 million. In Seville, he scored only one goal and two years later was awarded to the small club Gimnàstic de Tarragona. There, too, he managed just one goal in 13 games. Thus he was immediately awarded a year later to Portugal for first division club Maritimo Funchal, where he again started strongly by with 10 goals.

For the 2008 season then the Portuguese giants Benfica Lisbon secures the services of the Portuguese striker. But as the competition was too great in the storm, it was decided to give Makukula during the winter break for a rental fee of 800,000 € to Bolton. In total, he played only six games for Bolton and returned again in 2009 back to Lisbon. For the season 2009/10 he moved again by lending to Turkey for first division club Kayserispor who have a purchase option of € 3 million at the end of the season.

In the 2009/10 season with 21 goals Makukula has become in 29 games top scorer in the Turkcell Süper Lig. The purchase option was not pulled from Kayserispor. For the 2010/11 season Makukula joined Manisaspor. At the end of the season 2011/13 missed Manisaspor in the league and thus rose from the Süper Lig. Makukula then separated from the club.

The end of August it was announced his switch to the backup Ligiste Karşıyaka SK. He wrote a one-year contract here. Already the winter break he solved by gegenseitigwem agreement on his contract and left the club.

In the National Team

Makukula rather played an insignificant role in the national team of Portugal. For the A - team he has so far played only 4 matches in qualifying for Euro 2008 and scored on his debut on 17 October 2007 equal a goal against Kazakhstan.
