Arizona State Route 98

The Arizona State Route 98 (abbreviated AZ 98 ) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Arizona, which runs in an east - west direction. The approximately 67 miles ( 108 km) long road begins on U.S. Highway 89 in Page and ends on U.S. Highway 160 east of Cow Springs.

The State Route leads to a large part by sparsely populated areas as well as through the Navajo Indian Reservation.

Course

The Arizona State Route 98 begins just south of Page at the intersection with U.S. Highway 89 after a few miles it goes past the small village Lechee. Further east, passing through the street in the north, the Navajo Generating Station and cuts through the Antelope Canyon. Until Kaibito the route first runs parallel to the tracks of the Black Mesa and Lake Powell Railroad in a southerly direction. It mainly dry desert area is crossed. Following the road swings to the southeast and winds up in many curves through a hilly landscape. Just before the junction with U.S. Highway 160 passes through the AZ 98 in the north, the village of Shonto.
