Arkadelphia is a city in Clark County in the U.S. state of Arkansas and the county seat of administration. In the town are the Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University. She had just under 10,700 inhabitants in 2010.

Arkadelphia is part of the socio-economic region Ark- La -Tex, which includes parts of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

Geography

Arkadelphia is located in the northeast of the Clark County, in the central southwest Arkansas on Interstate 30 un U.S. Highway 67, about 100 km southwest of Little Rock and about 40 km south of Hot Springs. Only moments from the resort is the DeGray Lake and the Caddo River and the Ouachita River.

History

The territory of the present-day city was the early 19th century by John Hemphill, an employee of himself nearby salt flats populated. Until 1839 the settlement was named Blakelytown. After the American Civil War the city was in 1873 by the Cairo and Fulton Railroad connection to the railroad and became a trading center in the region.
