Arkansas State University

The Arkansas State University (also known as ASU ) is a public university in Jonesboro in the northeast of the U.S. state of Arkansas. With about 10,000 students, it is the most important location of the Arkansas State University system.

History

The Arkansas State University was founded in 1909 as a regional agricultural school. In 1925, out of the establishment, the First District Agricultural and Mechanical College ( A & M College). 1933 this was converted to the Arkansas State College. Since 1967, the college is recognized by the state under its current name as a university.

Sports

The sports teams of the Arkansas State University are the RedWolves (formerly Indians ). The University is a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
