Arlington Valles

Arlington Valles (birth name: Frederick Arlington Valles, born May 4, 1886 in London, † April 12, 1970 in Hollywood, California ) was a native of Great Britain American costume designer, in 1961 won an Oscar for Best Costume Design and before another was nominated for that Oscar time.

Life

Valles began his career as a costume designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1938 with the film A Christmas Carol and worked until 1960 at the costume and facilities for over sixty films and television series with.

At the Academy Awards in 1951, he was nominated along with Walter Plunkett for the Oscar for Best Costume Design in a color film, and indeed for the fate of Irene Forsyte ( 1949) by Compton Bennett with Errol Flynn, Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon in the lead roles.

In 1961, he finally won jointly with Bill Thomas Oscar for Best Costume Design in a color film for the historical and monumental film Spartacus (1960 ) by Stanley Kubrick with Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier and Jean Simmons. Spartacus was also the last film, cooperated in its production Valles.
