Arlöv

Arlöv is a settlement in the Swedish province of Skåne län and capital of the municipality Burlöv. Because Arlöv immediately adjacent to the Malmö district Centrum and the development is continuous, Arlöv ( Tätort ) does not apply, as defined for Swedish towns as an independent village, but is statistically expected to town Malmö. Arlöv has around 10,000 inhabitants. For the name part - löv is assumed that the original meaning of " inherited or taken over Good " was so Ar or Ares (not yet cleared ) inherited estate.

Arlöv owes its present form to two factors. For one, the place grew as 1869 a sugar factory established. Finally, the Swedish million program led in the 1960s and 1970s to a doubling of the population. The sugar factory is now in the Danish group Danisco. Other major employers in the city are the Swedish main office of Hilti and the shopping center Burlövs Centrum. A major firm was formerly Arlöfs Mekaniska Verkstad & wagon factory. The close connection between Arlöv with sugar production is reflected in two statues in the central square and in its vicinity. With the new housing estates of the 1960s to Arlöv differs from many other suburbs in the region of Malmö -Lund, which are characterized by single family homes. The population structure is characterized by a high proportion of foreigners.
