Arm warmer

Wrist warmers or hand cuffs are a garment that converges the hand partially covered and often pointed to the back of the hand. Is a mixture of Armstulpe and glove. The fingers remain free, back of the hand and wrist are covered. Wrist warmers are often worn as an accessory or as a protection against the cold with the desired freedom of the fingers. Made of fine and noble materials, it is often used as an accessory in the bridal and evening wear. Occasionally a strap is attached to the middle finger on top of the fabric.

This garment has its origins in the women's clothing to the Burgundian and Gothic fashion. Over time, the fashion typical tapered cuffs were worn separately as a wrist warmer.

During the First World War, women and girls were asked in the course of the war welfare in Germany to also knit wrist warmers for the troops among others.
