Armand Hug
Armand Hug ( born December 6, 1910 in New Orleans, † March 19, 1977 ) was an American pianist in the area of stride piano and Dixieland jazz.
Armand Hug spent most of his life in his hometown of New Orleans and began the age of 13 to work as a professional musician. In 1926 he played with Harry Shields, 1928 at the New Orleans Owls and 1936 with Sharkey Bonano, originated with the first recordings. Hug was known primarily as a solo pianist ( "In a Mist" ), who appeared in clubs in the city and local television stations. Was established in 1951 duet recordings with Ray Bauduc for Okeh Records ( Breezin along). In 1955 he joined up with Tony Parenti & His Downtown Boys. In his later years he joined the Royal Orleans Hotel.
The pianist is not to be confused with the Swiss racer of the same name (* 1915).
