Armenian Heritage Park

The Armenian Heritage Park (English Armenian Heritage Park ) is dedicated to the victims of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire Memorial Park in Boston, Massachusetts. It is located on the plot of the Rose Kennedy Greenway 13 between Faneuil Hall and Christopher Columbus Park. The foundation stone was laid on September 9, 2010.

The monument comprises a central element a sculpture that is surrounded by a reflecting waters. The sculpture has 24 to 26 different configurations, which symbolizes the dispersal of the diaspora and at the same time the coming together of immigrants from different countries. The other part is a grass labyrinth, which not only recognizes the Armenian contribution to the United States, but also represents the general way of life.

The Armenian Heritage Foundation, consisting of dozens of Armenian- American religious, cultural and other organizations in and around Massachusetts, collected 5 million to 6 million U.S. dollars for the construction of the Memorial Park.

At the groundbreaking ceremony on May 22, 2012 Governor Deval Patrick, Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, Rachel Kaprielian were in their capacity as Registrar of Motor Vehicles, the sheriff of Middlesex County Peter Koutoujian, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and many Armenian Americans as well as city and state officials present.

The construction of the park was initially scheduled for a period of twelve months, but took longer; the opening finally took place on 22 May 2012. Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Governor Deval Patrick attended hundreds of attendees of the Armenian community at the dedication of the park.
