Armin von Bogdandy

Armin Bogdandy ( born June 5, 1960 in Oberhausen ) is a German legal scholar with a focus on European law and international law. He is the son of the industrial manager Ludwig von Bogdandy.

Life and work

After his graduation in 1978 from the Theodor -Heuss -Gymnasium Dinslaken took Bogdandy in October 1979, the Law studies on; in October 1980 also a second degree in philosophy. After his first state exam, which he completed at the University of Freiburg in June 1984, he was starting in November 1984 as a research assistant at the Free University Berlin operates. In September 2000, he declined an offer to the Director of the Centre for European Legal Policy in Bremen from. In February 2001 he was appointed Judge of the OECD Nuclear Energy Court of Paris; in October 2006 he was elected president on this very court. In October 2002, he was Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg. From Bogdandy has taught in the winter semester 2005/2006 at the Hauser Global Law School in New York and in the summer semester of 2007 at the Xiamen Academy of International Law. He is considered one of the most innovative publicists of the younger generation. On June 4, 2008, he received the Prize of the Berlin -Brandenburg Academy of Sciences was awarded for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of foundations of law and the economy. He was appointed Senior Emile Noël Fellow at the Global Law School in 2010. For 2014, it Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize was awarded.
